Sesame Street Elmo Charm Pen

The Sesame Street pen is as shown in the picture and comes with a Elmo head charm.

Are you a professional waiter? I don't mean the kind that works at a restaurant getting food for people. I mean the type of person who waits for something better to happen before they can be truly happy. Do you like the way you look now or do you believe you'll look better when you fit into your pre-baby jeans again? Does your career fulfill you now or are you working a job just to get a paycheck? Have you recently taken any exciting vacations or are you waiting until your last child goes off to university?

Most moms don't live in the moment because they're so busy multitasking and rushing to fit it all in that there's too much guilt if they neglect all the other things they have to do. As a result, the great moments that are right in front of them are often missed. Half the time, moms don't even realize they're moving so quickly through the day because they're on autopilot and it just becomes part of their daily routine. It's also difficult for some moms to live in the moment when they don't exactly enjoy the moment they are in. It's hard to endlessly entertain a toddler with the attention span of a gnat!

Focusing on the future and all the things that have to get done only causes stress, anxiety and useless worry. So how can you stop to smell the roses when you don't have a second to breathe?

1. Call off the search party. Stop looking for happiness and realize it's already here. Look around you. Are you and your family healthy? Do you have the necessities of life? It's not about how much you have but the quality of what you have. It's ok to dream and work towards your goals as long as you don't get too caught up in the results.

2. Whistle while you work. Try to make all the things you have to do more enjoyable. Do you dread doing housework? Kick it up a notch and listen to your favourite music while doing your chores. If you add dancing to the mix, it'll save you from having to go to the gym. Now that's efficient!

3. Use your time wisely. When doing everyday duties like driving your kids to school, bath time or preparing dinner, take those moments to connect with your child/ren. Ask them about their day and get them to help you out. Not only will it get the job done faster, but it's a great way to bond and build their self-esteem.

4. Just be. It's more important to be present with your kids even if it's just for an hour a day than to be physically with them for 8 hours while you're engaged in other things. The next time you're "playing" with your kids, put down the phone and get down on the floor with them. Kids just want you and your attention. So stop, look and listen to them.

5. Look at life through their eyes. Kids have an incredible ability to be amazed at the simplest things. A rock, a flower, how spaghetti feels in their hands. Follow their lead and find that sense of wonder again. Stop taking things for granted and learn to appreciate the small miracles that surround you everyday.

6. Start a new tradition or ritual. Find special ways to create memories your kids will never forget. Maybe it's giving butterfly kisses before bed or making up a secret handshake that's just between the two of you. These are the memorable moments that money can't buy.

7. Remember, this too shall pass. Even though it may feel like you'll never sleep again, or you're destined to a life of changing dirty diapers, this stage won't last forever. You may be thinking "Hallelujah" now, but when your child goes to school for the first time, the tears you shed won't necessarily be of joy. Make the most of each stage when you're in it so you don't regret missing it when it's gone. And if you truly can't wait until the day when Elmo is no longer considered G-d, count your blessings, his days are numbered!

Elmo ESD-300DR

Elmo Security Camera, 23X Optical Zoom, 470 TVL => Model ESD-300DR

I recently had a friend that purchased a dirt bike for his son. However, this was no ordinary dirt bike because when his son rode the bike, it barely made any noise. I was just amazed at how quiet it was and I knew that this was no ordinary dirt bike. The reason the bike was so quiet is because his son was riding an electric dirt bike. Because the electric dirt bike does not use combustible fuel in virtually makes no noise. But that is only one of the small benefits of having an electric dirt bike.

As of this moment, in the town that I live in gas prices have zoomed up to $4.15 a gallon. Now, when gas was around three dollars a gallon it still wasn't too much of the big deal for people to spend that kind of money, but now gas is over four dollars and it seems like there's no end to the fact that it will be going up more. This means that the average American will have to tighten his or her belt and pull in money from wherever they can possibly do it. There is no doubt that you will have to cut corners, was a technology that we have today, we can still enjoy many of the pleasures and hobbies we have in life. What better way to do it then by using an electric vehicle. Electric dirt bikes have all of the features and speed of a regular dirt bike that runs on gasoline but you do not have to pay a high gas prices!

As with most alternative energy vehicles, the electric dirt bike does not require many of the maintenance and repair items that you would encounter with a fossil fuel vehicle. As a matter of fact, there is no oil changes, air filter changes or any of the types of maintenance that he would find on a gas vehicle. This is one of the reasons why electric cars were very unpopular with dealerships. If anybody was happy about the electric car failing, it was the dealerships because this was a source of income that flowed into their service stations on a regular basis.

With the electric car, you have the same situation. You don't have oil changes, air filter changes in all of the other things that result from fossil fuels. The same could be said about electric dirt bike. Because of the nature of the electric motor, the electric dirt bike has very few mechanical parts that need repaired. Not to say that an electric dirt bike would not have to have regular maintenance of any type. Actually, one of the main areas of maintenance and upgrading,is in the battery department. Because of the fuel of the electric dirt bike is electricity, of course, you have two have something that will store that and delivered a regular basis to the electric motor. This requires a changing of batteries on a seasonal basis.

Now, it all depends on what type of batteries you buy for the electric dirt bike. Most electric vehicles carry the NiMH batteries that are of course rechargeable and a good recharge can take up to eight hours. If you were to ride the bike continuously for 40 minutes it would probably pretty much where the battery out. That would take you up to about 10 miles. There are more expensive batteries that you can get the can hold a better charge. If you have somebody that is very active in too riding electric dirt bikes, they can always take extra batteries with them, but these types of batteries in the size that they are are very expensive.

On most electric dirt bikes you can find anywhere from a 300 to 700 watt motor. Usually the wattage on the motor's is right around 500, but they are inventing and selling new types of electric dirt bikes almost everyday. These motors and charges can usually carry somebody around 175 lbs. As with a regular dirt bike all of the safety precautions are the same. A person should wear helmets, goggles, knee pads in all of the other things that you need to purchase two keep yourself from getting banged up.

It should be noted also, that the electric dirt bike, like the electric car and electric motorcycles are very environmental friendly, so a person that is conscious of the environment and keeping our planet green will be doing the world a lot of good by writing one of these types of electric dirt bikes. When you add up all of the things that make electric dirt bikes easier on our wallet and nicer for planet don't forget that they are just the a lot of fun too.

Sesame Street Talking CD Player Elmo and Cookie Player

Sesame Street Talking CD Player. Plays 12 tunes & 4 styles of music. Includes 3 AA batteries.
Customer Review: NOT a CD player!
This toy is NOT a CD player - it just plays a few canned Sesame Street songs. I was very disappointed with this item. It is misleading to refer to it as a CD player because it is not. Even if you're looking for something that just plays a few pre-recorded jingles, you can find that for far less than $32.99.

Did you ever wonder why of all the holidays in the year, Christmas has more songs than any other holiday? And if you think you have to wait for Christmas Day or even Christmas Eve to hear all these great and not so great songs, there are radio stations all over the country that start playing Christmas songs right after Thanksgiving. Why wait?

The truth is, we can't wait for that magical time to come around when the radio stations start playing our favorite Christmas songs. There are so many of them, performed by so many artists, that you can listen for days and not hear the same song more than once.

There are songs from just about every era of music too. You've got your great Bing Crosby classic "White Christmas" from 1942 all the way to the 2005 classic "Christmas Time For The Jews" performed by Darlene Love on Saturday Night Live in one of the funniest and probably best segments they've done in many years.

Yes, the Christmas songs keep coming and coming. Every year we look forward to the new ones that come out in the hopes that a new classic will be born. But we still love the old songs, no matter how many times we hear them.

Some are very traditional and you come to expect their playing each year; songs like "Jingle Bells", "Silver Bells", "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town" and other tunes along the lines of the ones we used to learn when we were in school. No, we weren't very hip back then and you weren't going to find any off the beaten track tunes coming up at a school Christmas concert.

But thanks to some very talented and odd people, we do have some Christmas songs that are not so traditional and also quite a few that are very strange to say the least.

Of the more talented and beautiful of these songs you need look no further than "Happy Xmas" as performed by the late John Lennon. Over 30 years after this song was recorded, a plea for peace in our world, this song is still played on radio stations all over the world.

For the more bizarre, you need look no further than "Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer" as recorded by Elmo and Patsy. This song become such a huge hit that they eventually made a cartoon movie out of it in the year 2000. Someday this song may fade into obscurity, but as of today it is one of the most requested Christmas songs each year.

Then of course you have your Christmas songs that you hear in Church on Christmas Even and Christmas Day service, such as "O Holy Night", "Away In A Manger", "Joy To The World", "O Little Town Of Bethlehem" and of course "Silent Night", which usually concludes most Christmas Eve services as we put out our candles.

Yes, Christmas music most certainly does make the holiday season that much more special. Hopefully, as the years go by, more and more great Christmas songs will be written to help remind us what a truly magical time Christmas really is.

Party Bags - Elmo

Wrap up cookies, chocolates, favours and more with colour and fun.
Pack of 16 bags with Elmo design and twist ties.
Sesame Street and Elmo are trademarks of Sesame Workshop.

Since music is my background and has been since the age of 9 and that I have been a comedian since 1980, I felt it only fitting that I do a Top 10 list of my favorite comedy songs. There have been so many novelty songs on the charts and in movies over the years and I hope I can remember all the ones that I have enjoyed. I will surely do my best to cover all of them. If I forget any of yours, let me know I and will update my list. I will just go through most of them and then put them in my list. With all that being said, here we go:

Monty Python has provided numerous songs that I have loved over the years; Sit On My Face, Brave Sir Robin, Look On The Bright Side Of Life and of course their infamous The Lumberjack Song. I also loved the theme song from their old television shows, Monty Python's Flying Circus. It was said by George Harrison that he had felt that when the Beatles broke up, Python had taken the baton, so to speak, and continued with the same aura and spirit. I agree totally. Their shows, movies and songs are classics and so was the play Spamalot, which I thought was absolutely hysterical and brilliant.

Mel Brooks has been terrific at supplying us with great comedy songs and theme songs. Blazing Saddles and I'm Tired from the movie Blazing Saddles, High Anxiety from the movie of the same name, Springtime For Hitler and Prisoners In Love from The Producers, and Putting On The Ritz from Young Frankenstein. Mr. Brooks never ceases to amaze me with his talent and sense of humor.

Ray Stevens has written and performed many, many great comedy songs throughout his illustrious career. Please Mr. Custer, The Streak, Ahab The Arab, Harry The Hairy Ape and one of my favorite titles of all time that they actually were able to fit on the label of the old 45's, Jeremiah Peabody's Polyunsaturated, Quick Dissolving, Fast Acting, Pleasant Tasting Green And Purple Pills. I am still amazed at that the record company went for that title and agreed to print it on the cover. That's a lot of extra ink per record.

Allen Sherman, in the 50's & 60's, used to do a lot of parodies of classic songs. His most famous one was Hello Muddah, Hello Faddah. It was about the tribulations of a kid at camp. Very funny and relatable for kids and adults alike.

The Playmates did a great comedy song in the 50's that got faster and faster as the tune went along called Beep Beep (Little Nash Rambler). I loved that song as a kid. It was very unique and was in the rotation on radio stations for many weeks.

Sheb Wooley had a great song in the 50's called Flying Purple People Eater. I rememebr all of the visuals that song conjured up as a young boy. I mean, how could you possibly escape from a Purple People Eater that could fly too?

Dave Seville had loads of big hits with his famous chipmunks back then. Simon, Theodore and ALVIN! "OKAAAAAY!". The Chipmunk Song and The Witchdoctor were the first songs to use the technology of raising a person's voice mechanically and making it sound like that. Dave's real name was Ross Bagdasarian and his son eventually took over the job later on.

Spike Jones was such a novelty act of his time and his songs were simply hysterical and unique sounding due to all of the sound effects they used and performed live, I might add. Cocktails For Two and You Always Hurt The One You Love were superb and always made me laugh and still do until this day.

It seems to me that the 50's was a very big era for comedy and novelty songs. I don't really know why they seemed to have disappeared over the years. They're still some but not in quite abundance as before. Maybe because the world was much more innocent back then and people aren't as easily amused these days. I don't know the reason but I think it's a shame that more aren't made today. I think people need more humor in their lives in these crazy times we live in.

So, here we go:

My Top 10 Favorite Comedy Songs 1. Springtime For Hitler

2. Sit On My Face

3. The Lumberjack Song

4. Brave Sir Robin

5. You Always Hurt The One You Love

6. Please, Mr. Custer

7. Beep Beep (Little Nash Rambler)

8. High Anxiety

9. Look On The Bright Side Of Life

10. Hello Muddah, Hello Faddah

My honorable mentions are anything by Weird Al Yankovic, He Had It Coming from the Broadway play Chicago, Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer by Dr. Elmo, Hooray For Captain Spaulding from the movie Animal Crackers with the Marx Brothers and Lydia The Tatooed Lady also with the Marx Brothers from the movie At The Circus, King Tut by Steve Martin, The Chanukah Song by Adam Sandler, Rappin' Rodney by Rodney Dangerfield, Blue Christmas sung by Porky Pig, They're Coming To Take Me Away by Napoleon XIV (aka Jerry Samuels), songs by Stephen Lynch, I Can't Stop My Leg and Colonoscopy by Robert Klein, Everything by John Valby, and Whose Your Little Whosey? from The Stooge with Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis.

If I didn't mention one of your favorites, let me know and I will add it to my honorable mentions list or update my favorite Top 10 list if I agree with it. I am sure that I have forgotten so many over the years. Until then, thanks again for reading, THE COMEDY TORNADO!

Paul Venier has been an entertainer since he was 9 years old. A musician turned comedian who has been performing live for more than 35 years. He still performs for thousands of people per week all over the country, has a CD out of Original music called 'Better Late Than Never', 3 Comedy Videos out in which sales are approaching the million unit mark and is currently working on 3 Television pilots for NBC as a writer, producer and music scorer. He is also slated to compose and score a movie that is about to go into production in the next few months called 'All My Friends Are Getting Married'. He has acted in some low-budget movies as well as a small part in 'Cadillac Man'. He was the Musical Director, Writer and Performer for the long running 'Rascal's Comedy Hour, which was largely done in the 1980's & 90's. He also has a book coming out very soon called 'Brand New Spanking Dirty Limericks'.

Born November 1st, 1949, David Foster is an award winning producer, composer and musical arranger, and has won 14 Grammy awards and been nominated for 42 over the course of his career. As a member of the musical group Skylark during the 70s, Foster gained the opportunity to work closely with many high-level celebrities and musicians, including: John Lennon, Josh Groban, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, Andrea Bocelli, Madonna, Gordon Lightfoot, and many, many more!

Foster was also asked to compose the score for the film St. Elmos Fire, and gained several additional hit singles off the movies soundtrack release. Through his own record label, Foster produced debut albums for several well-known musical artists who have since moved onward to very lucrative musical careers, such as: Josh Groban, The Corrs, and Michael Buble. His label is known as 143 Records.

Foster was married in 1991 to Linda Thompson, and although they are no longer together, Foster and Thompson worked together on several pieces such as the song I Have Nothing from the soundtrack to The Bodyguard in 1992. This song was nominated for both a Grammy and an Academy Award, and in 1996, Fosters composition The Power of the Dream with Kenneth Edmonds became the official theme song for that summers Olympics.

As an attempt to get into television, Foster and his two step-sons began a reality TV show called The Princes of Malibu, where Foster played himself, trying to convince his sons to shape up and make their own way in the world. The show failed, and was canceled soon after its debut. More recently, Foster was featured as a guest on the television reality show American Idol, as a mentor to competitors. He was also a judge on the show Nashville Star, as well as Celebrity Duets, a show created and produced for Fox-TV.

Shout Elmo

A little bit louder now! A little bit higher now! Get your child moving and grooving with Elmo as he sings and dances to the "Shout" song. Press this soft Elmo's left foot, and he waves his arms and dances up and down to the music. Little ones get into the groove, too, when they press the right foot and Elmo challenges them to go as low and soft, or high and loud as they can. He moves up and down in stages to the music, just like the song. An easy dance song to follow, this is sure to be one of your toddler's favorite toys. Requires 3 "AA" batteries (included). Measures 15 inches tall.

Customer Review: Faith Merry Christmas
I never received this item. So I cannot give it a review. I actually forgot that I had purchased it because of all the shopping I did at Christmas time but have never received the item. I gave this a 5 Star rating though because I have never heard anything bad about Elmo Shout.

With the holidays just around the corner, Christmas shopping sits center stage. Video games, DVDs, Ipod's, a 2008 Hummer, all kinds of people ask for all sorts of things. Some people are easier than others: teenagers are typically satisfied with clothes, sports zealots are typically happy with paraphernalia representing "their team," and kids are typically overjoyed by lots and lots of toys. Some people, however, are harder to shop for. The Do-It-Yourselfer in your life, for instance, probably won't be overjoyed by a Tickle Me Elmo. Instead, try hitting the nail on the great gift head with the following ideas:

Gift certificates to hardware stores:

If there is one thing the Do-it-Yourselfer can always use it is supplies. From nails to glue guns, from plywood to drill bits, some Do-it-Yourselfers have been known to buy out the inventory at local hardware stores. Instead of trying to figure out what supplies they need - and hoping you buy them the correct ones - simply give the gift of ambiguity: a gift certificate.

Home Improvement Books:

There are all kinds of ways to learn the tricks of home improvement. Some people attend workshops, some people watch videos, and some people just make it all up as they go along. Home Improvement books, however, may be the most effective way. Not only are they an extensive source of reference, but they are also a lot easier to refer back to than a plumbing seminar from the late 1990's.

Rechargeable, cordless power tools:

There are tools, then there are power tools: gear that has turned very cool and very convenient. Power tools turn hard work easy and are even better when they are cordless, allowing the fixer upper to take them anywhere. A rechargeable, cordless power tool is the perfect gift for anyone who doesn't yet have one. They'll be amazed by what they've been missing, particularly when they are missing an electrical outlet.

A Good Flash light:

Except for those stormy nights when city power goes out, it's quite easy to overlook the importance of a flash light. Even Do-it-Yourselfers tend to overlook them. For this reason, flashlights make great gifts. A Do-it-Yourselfer can't only benefit from a flashlight, but a good, heavy, and bright flashlight. These kinds of flashlights help people to perform home improvement projects in attics, under sinks, and in basements.

Ladders:

Anyone who can live their whole life without ever needing a ladder probably never engages in home improvement, or is just exceptionally tall. Ladders, for Do-It-Yourselfers, aren't only handy, they are necessary. If you know a renovator who doesn't have a ladder, it's a perfect gift to help give them - and their repairs - quite a lift.

Sesame Street - Elmo Cross Body Bag

As a session singer myself, and former talent booking agent for the William Morris Agency, I can attest to the number of sessions that I have personally sung on where I wondered why some of the singers were even invited And yet other sessions, and the vast majority, where its a pleasure to be singing with the folks behind the mic.

I can honestly tell you that through the years of singing sessions, and Ive sung on a quite a few, from Fox TV, UPN Station IDs to OCharleys, that there are key ingredients that make up session singers in general. Session singers in the bigger picture, have a completely different role from the lead singer, yet they are tied integrally to one another. In one sense, the session singers create their own vision and picture, but ultimately they must tie directly to and enhance the lead vocal.

If you have ever had the opportunity to sing on some sessions, you will attest to the fact that regardless of the style being recorded, that back up singers and BGVs can make or break the project about as much as any other element involved. Ever listen to a song and go man is this hot, because the BGVs (background vocals) sounded so good, even though the actual song was fair to begin with. Thats what really good session singers can do for an otherwise fair to mediocre song. This is why getting into session singing in general is not the easiest thing to do as well.

Producers and writers will tell you that they have their singer rolodex and dont experiment much with newer singers. Mainly because they have been burned in the past by what was suppose to be a great singer, that actually cost them more time and money or a project that would otherwise have turned out much tighter with seasoned singers. Getting into the session singing market can take time and energy just getting the opportunity to be invited, while not even looking at the money to be made, just the opportunity.

Heres a few key elements that you will need to incorporate if you are to become a successful session singer. Many ask, What is the deal? Why cant I get any session work? And Ill tell you its just as much about attitude as it is vocal ability. Theres no question about it Your vocal ability must stand out, but so should your attitude. On the front end of this article I mentioned singers who I wondered why were ever invited to the session You know why? They had a poor attitude. Didnt want to sing it this way or that way or knew it all. They dominated the session and pulled down all of the creative elements of the group and consequently were never asked to return.

Ive been asked to sing on quite a few of Chris Hustons projects through the years. Chris Huston has recorded and been involved with Led Zeppelin, The Who, Blood Sweat & Tears, James Brown, Van Morrison, Patti La Belle, and quite honestly this impressive list could keep going. And the reason that Ive been asked, is because he likes me as an individual and I try to be easy to work with. If you will incorporate a What can I do for you mentality instead of How can you help me out, or How can I use you to where I am going, you will be one step ahead of the crowd. And seriously, so many, no matter how kind hearted they seem on the front end, have the What can you do for me attitude Just be genuine in your dealings with people and it will pay off with both loyalty and financial rewards later on.

Weve talked about attitude in terms of entering the session singing market and the other component, which is quite obvious, and that is your demo reel you are sending out. Do you know how many singers I have met with second rate demos expecting to gain session work? - Too many. Do you have individuals with an honest ear listening to your demos, or just those who will tell you how great it sounds, not wanting to hurt your feelings, listen to your demos? Make sure you have honest ears listening to your demos. At the same time, understand that, just like everyone is an expert on resumes and by sending out ten resumes to ten different people you will get ten different suggestions on needed changes, can sometimes hold true here as well. The other component to watch out for, are individuals who dont have your best interest in mind, but theirs. They are sometimes jealous, ignorant, or have alternative motives and so you must watch out for those individuals.

Your session singing demo should consist of a variety of styles contrasting your dynamic range and scope of styles and ability. At the same time, be aware of whats you and not you and steer away from styles that you really cant pull off. Better to have less styles and consistency of quality, than to try and be all things to all people. And quite honestly, I utilize people, even to this day, who produce styles better than I on projects, so that when someone hears the project they say wow! When producers listen to your demos, they better say Now were talking, do they have anything else they can send us? Thats the response you want. Dont settle for anything less!

As you continue on in your singing careers and dreams of session work, jingle singing, or plain artist development, remember that there is room for one more singer in the crowded waiting areas of the session singing world, and you can be the one of the newest session singers with a great attitude and demo that turns the heads of all your listeners. Just keep at it. As the old saying goes, Luck comes to those who try!

Elmo Messenger Bag

This full sized messenger bag (approximately 13.5" - 15"W X 11-11.5" - 12 'H X 4" - 4.5"D), lots of storage, has the following features: Zippered main compartment. Adjustable shoulder straps. Licensed Product.

Like many pet owners, I had a huge problem with my dogs: they would always bark! I really needed to find out how to train a dog not to bark, and I found some interesting results.

First of all, you must know the reason why your dog is barking before you figure out a cure. Dogs are like babies in the fact that they will bark (or cry in a babies case) when they are hungry, thirsty, need to defecate or just bored. If it is a case of the first three then there is a simple solution: feed them, give them water or let them outside.

Its that last one though that is difficult to cure: boredom. Many pet owners work during the day, leaving their pets behind at home for 8-12 hours a day. If the dog is not house trained then it will probably tear apart furniture. If it is trained then it will most likely bark looking for attention. Some will bark because they see something out the window and want to get it but cant. Others bark because they are just hyperactive and cant help it. If the dog is left at home all day long, a good thing to do would be to shut all the blinds and curtains, to make sure that the dog isnt barking at birds out the window or children coming home from school. Also, leave the radio or the TV on at a low volume. Chances are that Elmo and friends will give your dog that temporary companionship that you cant give while at work. Also, dont be one of those owners who calls home while at work and leaves messages for the dog to listen to. Yes, its lonely, but hearing your voice coming out of a weird box in the counter will only make things worse. The dog could literally stand there all day barking at the answering machine until you come home.

And then of course there are what the professionals call reactive barkers. These dogs will bark at anything and everything. If the doorbell rings, it barks. If you sit down on a chair, it barks. If you take a hat off, it barks. This means your dog might actually have a problem that only a veterinarian can diagnose and solve.

Remember that you do not have to live with barking anymore. You too can train dog not to bark with just a little bit of patience.

If you would like to train your dog not to bark and you need more tips and information vist http://www.squidoo.com/traindognottobark/

Sesame Street Elmo Star Rolling Backpack - Blue

Elmo Coloring Books Assorted Styles 1 pc

Elmo Coloring Books comes in assorted styles and types, No color or Style choice available.

Its the usual thing every Parent goes through from time to time I guess.

Daaaad, why cant we get a dog?

Well son its like this, they take a lot of caring, theyre a big responsibility, they need feeding (this is starting to sound like a job description for Parenthood in general I know), and they need someone to walk them on cold dark winter nights. Hit them hard with the triple mantra of Dog Health, Dog Grooming and Dog Training I thought, that will do the trick..

So four weeks later there I was heading with my sister in law to the nearest branch of the Dogs Trust to check out some abandoned puppies from a litter that had been taken in before Christmas and were coming up to eleven weeks old and it was crunch time.

What sort of dog were you looking for sir and what sort of experience have you had with dogs? We will need to take out references and check out where the dog is going to live, whether it is safe. Heck, this was starting to sound like a job interview with the local bank not some search for an abandoned pooch.

It would possibly have been easier to pack a suitcase full of cash and hop on the next plane to some third world country and come home with a baby a contentious view point I know but says more about the shoddy approach to most Intercountry Adoptions but I digress.

Five minutes later there I was walking round the inner courtyard of what sounded like canine hell. There is something deeply tragic about the way we treat our pets in this world (marginally better then we treat our fellow humans I know) and unless we stop treating pets and dogs especially with the same disposable mentality that we use when buying our next cheeseburger it is only going to get worse.

Trying to take a reasoned and rational approach to what can only be best described as a display of truly pathetic (in the truest of senses) wretchedness is extremely difficult. The Dogs Trust is wonderful organisation that copes, alongside numerous others, in a much challenged environment, with a miniscule budget and essentially damaged goods. It is a hard task to manage in a situation whereby the credo of the organisation is we do not destroy any dogs means that there is an ever increasing strain on budgets. The upshot of all of this is that you find yourself in a canine equivalent of a used car showroom but without the shiny cars, heating and cheap aftershave to keep you company.

It is a very functional environment whereby the dogs are well cared for, fed, kept warm, safe, dry and medically cared for but the Ritz Carlton it is not. The dogs are kept in pens with wire partitions and once one starts barking the rest join in for what seems to be the fun of it. The inhabitants of this canine community seem to recognise what is going on and pathetically struggle to out muscle, out do, and generally create as much interest in them as possible. Of course there is always the compete opposite, the really damaged ones who seem to have lost all interest in human contact remembering not too fondly the lack of humanity or brutality that led them to be here in the first place.

Interesting choice, I thought, feeling rather guilty at the fact that no matter what choice I made there were going to be at least forty or fifty of these frantic barking creatures that would be left here waiting for a better draw from the lottery of fate on another day.

I was very aware of the fact that the main driving force behind this choice was the fact that I had a seven year old son who was probably going to be the dogs main companion over the course of its life and therefore it would be an idea to find a dog that got on well with humans (not as easy as you think) and kids especially.

Yes, you got it; we ended up with a puppy, a cross between a Black Labrador and a Border collie (we think). It was one of those tragically funny situations when I looked at the paperwork and there it was in front of me, Mother Black Labrador, Father unknown. Apparently, the litter had been taken in before Christmas and though the mother was acquired at the same time and therefore known, the likeliest suspect for the Father apparently was a working dog at the nearest farm thereby giving rise to the Border Collie, we think routine.

As most dog owners will testify, despite feeling as if I had accomplished a great deal, it was only the beginning.

Party Supplies - Hooray for Elmo 7" Dessert Plates (8)

Party Supplies - Includes eight 7" dessert plates.

Elmo's World Traditional Slumber Bag

What could be better than cozying up with Elmo for the night' Bright red with a huge graphic of the ticklish Muppet, the lightweight polyester bag features polyester fiberfill for warmth, a yellow tricot lining for comfort and a side-zip for easy snuggling. Includes a red and clear plastic carrying bag. Made of polyester fiberfill. Machine wash. Imported. 57"L x 30"W.

If you're thinking it's pretty hard to chose a gift for a teen, you're right. Teens are no longer little kids who become giddy over this years' hot Elmo toy. Many gift givers worry that they don't know what is "in" for teens or feel they don't want to give teens more "plugged in" products that will enable the teen to tone out to the rest of the family. Why buy them something that will distance them from you and encourage them to hibernate inside? You don't have to. Hobby, radio controlled transportation items that travel and race by air, water and land are actually quite popular with teens and fun for families. These electronic hobby items might just be your answer. They are "high tech," so they'll meet the "cool" criteria for kids, but they also provide an opportunity to enjoy being outdoors and it is also a bobby that the families can enjoy together. (Links to specific examples at the bottom of this article). You can get these items with either gas or electronic power, and many can go as fast as 65 miles per hour. All over the country, teens are gathering at parks and fields to race and enjoy these little gadgets - and they're much safer (and more fun) than racing real cars. Some of the more popular, most sought after items are:

Racing By Air: Eflite's Blade CX2 RTF Electric Coaxial Micro Helicopter: The Blade CX2 is perhaps the most popular electric heli with a perfect 5 star rating on Amazon. It features a Spektrum 2.4GHz DSM radio control that allows you to fly it anywhere at any time without having to worry about reception - and this technology is built into the copter. The CX2 has a 4 - in -1 remote control that lets you control the copter, the gyro and the tail with unbelievable precision. The CX2s body design is awesome looking and is unlike anything else offered at the moment. It retails for about $189. See the end of this article for more info about this product.

Racing By Land: Rustler Stadium Truck RTR w/XL-5: Many feel that this is the best ready to run R/C truck that is out today. Because you can set different running modes on the engine, this model is very easy to operate for both teens and adults. This truck has a Titan 12-turn 550 motor, XL-5 ESC and Torque-Control slipper clutch. It can clock speeds at more than 35 miles per hour. Red, sleek and stylish, it has a perfect 5 star rating as well. The Rustler stadium truck runs about $159.

Racing By Sea: ThunderCat 31 RTR With .32 Marine Engine & Radio Boat: Most users who rank this boat high (5stars) note that it's durable, easy to use, and offers reliability that you would expect from it's manufacturer (Pro Boat.) The ThuderCat features handcrafted quality and Sullivan's Tiger Drive system which ensures fast, easy engine starting. It also has a Dynamite .32 marine engine which propels it's unbelievable power and speed. A radio system comes pre-installed and features servo reversing, steering and throttle adjustments. It's user friendly for both kids and adults. This items is gas powered and retails for about $349.
