Looking To Buy A Wii? Where To Find A Wii System

Trying to buy a Wii for the holidays? It's going to be rough going. Nintendo did not manufacture more systems in anticipation of the holiday crunch, and the Nintendo Wii turned out to be such a popular item, that stores everywhere are running out.

If you are trying to find out where to buy a Wii, the best place is always online. Sellers from just about anywhere can offer Wii game systems at competitive prices, and you have a choice of more sellers than at your local mall. You can buy a Wii online and receive it within a day or two. These are new Nintendo Wii game systems, in the box, many times with receipts or with return policies.

Figuring out where to buy a Wii online can be confusing though. Many buyers are reluctant to purchase online because they don't want to be ripped off. Here are some quick tips to make sure you buy a Wii online safely, and aren't disappointed for the holidays:

- Use a well-known auction service like eBay. Don't shop through an unknown channel.

- Use a reliable payment service, like PayPal. PayPal is owned by eBay, and has excellent buyer protection programs if you pay using them. If you can use a credit card or bank account through PayPal, you are better protected than if you mail a check or money order. Most sellers ship faster too for online payment. If the seller does not come through, you will at least get you money back.

- Buy a Wii system from a seller with a high rating, and with several hundred sales under the belt at least. On eBay you can see seller feedback from other buyers, you can see approximately how many items they've sold (by the feedback count) and there are rankings according to how much positive feedback the seller has. PowerSellers are eBay merchants who sell thousands each month, and are also very reliable.

- Compare prices for sold systems. You can see prices for closed auctions on eBay so you know what the systems are going for. Generally, prices will be a little cheaper than you'll find in retail stores.

- Make sure the item you are bidding on has all the accessories and pieces you want. Does it have all the controllers, software, and cables? Is it "new in box"? Do you need a single system, or a bundle, with two controllers and nunchucks?

- Buy from a seller with a cash-back return policy. If your system doesn't measure up, you want to have the choice to get a refund.

- Ask questions before bidding. Get your answer before bidding so you don't win an auction you didn't want to win.

Use these special tips to make sure you buy a Nintendo Wii system you or your family is looking for this holiday season!

Classic Arcade Games

Retro Video Games were video games designed for early computers back in the 80's. These games were considered futuristic due to the graphics and audio abilities. Since these Vintage Arcade Games are not on sale any longer they are considered "retro" which means, retrograde or from things past. There is still a following because many of these Retro Amiga Games became the standard for other game makers later on.

Some of the Retro Video Consoles that topped the list from the era are, Formula 1 Grand Prix, Civilization, Lemmings, and Dune II. Many of the games that appeared on the consoles like the Commodore Amiga were taken straight from the arcade machines of the arcade. Those that saw their favorite stand up version reprogrammed and formatted just the same as the arcade version, soon became followers. Although archaic in when viewed with the animation of today's consoles, the Classic Video Games that started the whole gaming revolution seemed very advanced. This was before games consoles were normal in every home.

The Commodore 64 for instance was introduced with software that produced many games that at the time could only be rivalled by Nintendo, many of these Vintage Video Games can be found today available at specialist sites on the internet and even some specialised stores. The animations are just as you remember and the music sounds a bit better because of the sound qualities that accompany many consoles of today. Many Retro Amiga Games have become huge fan favourites with websites and forums dedicated to individual games.

Sometimes a collector or enthusiast will try to find particular Retro Video Consoles for one of these consoles. Many people possibly still have these systems in their garage or basement and don't know the popularity of these vintage systems. It's hard to find Vintage Video Games since they don't make them anymore, and even though PC software tries to introduce the same graphics it's the combination of the systems and the games that produce the nostalgia. You can find games on auction sites or even a pawnshop but there seems to be a lot of legwork involved. There are some gamer sites that cater exclusively to those who are seeking these games from days gone by.

The history that these Vintage Arcade Games and consoles have can never be repeated. These systems were designed for games only, the systems of today build upon the system before it and so on. Classic Video Games bring back memories for those who sat in their bedrooms and played until they couldn't see straight. Despite the fact that these types of consoles seem old fashioned and out of place among the sleek designs of today, they still have a solid place in the gaming world as the first game systems that started it all.

Call of Duty - World at War Reviewed

Call of Duty: World at War is the latest installment in the popular Call of Duty series. The story takes place in World War 2, mainly in the Pacific theatre. Throughout the campaign, you will play as both a United States marine, as well as a Russian soldier of the Red Army. Your enemies are both the Japanese and Nazi Germany.

This game is simply fantastic. The graphics are wonderful, online or offline. This game was not expected to do well, as it was created by Treyarch, who created Call of Duty 3, which was not a great game. Plus, they had to live up to the nearly legendary Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, which is considered by many to be the #1 game for consoles. But Treyarch delivered; Call of Duty: World at War was a huge success! The campaign is very unique and long enough to be enjoyable. No two levels look the same, and it seems like you're playing a new game every time you start a new mission. But the campaign is not what most people purchased the game for. Most purchased Call of Duty: World at War for the phenomenal online game play.

The online game play on Call of Duty: World at War is simply one of my favorite things to do, on any game I have ever played. You start out as a lowly level 1, with very few guns, and only your bravery to help you. Slowly you work your way up the food chain, unlocking new guns, new "perks" (abilities that help you in the game), and new game types. You will never get bored of playing this game. There are many, many different game types to choose from. You can play classic team death match, search and destroy, or even capture the flag!

It is a great game, and I recommend that everyone reading this pick it up as soon as possible!

Unlocking the Best Gaming Reviews Available

With so many different video games constantly being released, it can be difficult to decide which one deserves your hard-earned cash. It therefore makes sense to be a savvy shopper and read up on the various reviews available in order to make the best choice. But, if none of your friends have played the game before, where do you turn to find out if a game is worth buying?

Like any product, the best way to find out about how good a video game may be is from reading video game reviews. And when considering investing in your personal entertainment, a little bit of advice can go a long way in helping you to find the game that's going to give you the most entertainment.

There are a number of different sources where you can read gaming reviews too; providing you with a well-rounded overview of each game, which can help you to make the right decision on which game to buy.

One of the best places to start is the newsagents' shelves. Most newsagents stock a wide number of gaming magazines for each of the different consoles that are currently available. What's more, each of the different magazines should be able to provide you with reviews of the various games available, and maybe even offer you some helpful screenshots or recommendations of similar games.

Whilst gaming experts can prove one of the best sources of information, your regular video game player can also provide a lot of insight. As such, computer game chat rooms and online forums offer a great source of unbiased information, displaying varied opinions about almost any video game possible. In addition, many video game fanatics will often have their own personal blog; here you will find honest opinions from the individuals on the specific games in mind.

However, printed magazines aren't the only sources of information to obtain reviews from the industry experts. The internet is full of gaming review websites, many of which combine game reviews from personal contributors, in addition to comments from gaming fanatics. And similar to video games magazines, such sites often contain screenshots to give you an idea of the graphics quality. One major advantage video game websites have over magazines is their ability to stream video, including anything from in-game footage, narrated cheat and walkthrough videos through to interviews with the game creators.

If after having trawled through the internet, and countless gaming magazines for specific game reviews and are still uncertain about which one to choose, it may be possible to rent the game from your local video store. Indeed, it can be difficult to beat your own personal opinion and adapting a 'try before you buy' attitude can at times prove very beneficial in making that final decision.

Of course, there are an unlimited amount of resources available to assist you in choosing the right game; from professional gaming magazines to personal reviews, finding quality gaming reviews should not be too difficult.

Daniel Collins writes on a number of topics on behalf of a digital marketing agency and a variety of clients. As such, this article is to be considered a professional piece with business interests in mind.

The Nintendo Wii System

The Nintendo Wii has risen in popularity and probably the most user-friendly of all the video game consoles out there. Nintendo's marketing strategy was to hit the masses between the ages of 5-95. The video games are fun less complicated than XBox games, etc. So if you're a young person or a young person at heart, then you more than likely will enjoy the gameplay of the Nintendo Wii system

Who Wouldn't Prefer the Nintendo Wii System

Although it's pretty hard to justify hating a game console like the Nintendo Wii, some people don't like the type of games the Nintendo Wii is known for. People that are into sharp, computer-like graphics offered by systems like the XBox for PS3 will enjoy the Wii, but prefers playing or owning another system. These type of people are generally into long, story bound, RPG video games that requires skill and experience of knowing the game and its purpose. I've met a few people of this type and they even admit that it's nice to play the Wii once in awhile to leave the monotonous gameplay of the XBox and PS3 games out there.

How to Make Playable Backup Copies of XBox 360 Discs

Not only do XBox 360 gamers have to contend with the possibility of the red ring of death, but they also have to contend with the possibility of getting their game discs scratched during play. You are probably shaking your head at this point. These two issues are the last thing on your mind when you are playing your games. You don't want to be constantly worrying about overheating or if this will be the last time you will be seeing your game disc. That puts a big damper on your game play. And that is not cool!

But there is a way to make playable backup copies of your XBox 360 game discs. Unfortunately, it cannot be had for free. You have to pay someone for the time it took for them to figure it out and then to write up the tutorials and whatever software is needed for you to accomplish this.

The one utility that I have come across and that is the most legitimate for this purpose is Copy That Game. It isn't that expensive and for its price, it's worth it. All you need is to make one backup copy that you use and if it gets scratched, you would have saved the cost of buying the game again and seeing that game prices are around $60, you are saving quite a bit with this utility.

With this utility, it truly allows you to make playable backup copies of XBox 360 discs as well as other game discs for other consoles like PlayStation and Wii. It will work even for PC games.

The one downside is that it only works on PC's at the moment. The company is looking to add Mac compatibility in the future.

Be sure to read my review of Copy That Game.

It's always a relief to know that you are not playing with your original discs and that they are always in their prime condition!

Three Steps On How To Find And Download PSP Wallpaper

The PSP is a superb games console, that can allow you to download and play games, music, movies, and even images to display on your PSP screen. Still, sometimes trying to find new wallpaper images for your PSP can be very confusing.

However, you can take away much of the confusion if you follow these three simple steps to finding and downloading PSP wallpapers that you'll love. That way, all you'll have left to decide, is which wallpaper you want to download first!

STEP ONE

Check your firmware!

Make sure you have the right PSP firmware version. You are going to need version 2.0 or above for the wallpaper function to work on your PSP.

To check your PSP firmware version select the options on your PSP screen in the following order:

SETTINGS > SYSTEMS SETTINGS > SYSTEM INFORMATION > SYSTEM SOFTWARE.

The SYSTEM SOFTWARE option should show you your PSP's firmware version number.

STEP TWO

Find some PSP wallpaper!

There are a number of websites offering free wallpaper designs for your PSP. For security reasons (mostly to guard against possible PC viruses) it is better if you download your PSP wallpapers from large legal download websites, rather than small independent websites.

Also, visit active PSP forums and get advice as to where other people have received their PSP wallpaper. Chat with them to see which websites they have found to be the most trustworthy.

STEP THREE

Get it onto your PSP!

To get your wallpaper image from PC onto PSP, connect your PSP games console to your computer using a USB cable. In 'My Computer' your PSP is the G: drive.

Now download and save your wallpaper image onto your PC. Simply drag and copy your saved wallpaper image onto your PSP games console.

Once you have the wall paper on your PSP, go to you PSP main menu, select the image and choose to "Set As Wallpaper".

Now you are all done!

Wii Balance Board Games

Are you getting sick and tired of sitting in front of the computer playing video games? If so, perhaps the Nintendo Wii offers a great alternative. When you play games on the computer, you sit in front of the system for hours, using your fingers to type or click. In the long run, this may pose serious health hazards for you. Stiff or incorrect posture can cause injuries to your neck, shoulder, as well as spinal area. Your wrists may also get injured as well if you are not careful.

Nintendo Wii games work very differently from traditional computer games. The system works with sensors, and controllers are sensor based. That means there are no wires connecting the controllers to the system. And that allows greater freedom of movement. You can play all kinds of fun and exciting games on the Nintendo Wii. Popular games include bowling, tennis, cooking, and racing.

The gaming concept is simple - allow players to respond to signals in the game using the controllers. With a greater degree of movement, fans find that they get a great work out while playing Wii games. It's only a matter time that Nintendo starts releasing fitness related games. True enough, we now have the Wii balance board.

With the release of the balance board, fans can now enjoy a whole range of different games. When the balance board was first released, you have to buy it together with a game called Wii Fit. Fans are thrilled by the balance board, but they also want to find out if the balance board is available for sale without the purchase of Wii Fit. After all, there are other games that they can play using the balance board. Unfortunately, the answer to that question is a disappointing "no". You cannot buy the balance board without the Wii Fit.

Realizing that there is a gap in the market, manufacturers started to release copycat balance boards. These are boards that work in the same way as the original balance board, but you don't have to buy it together with Wii Fit. As far as fans are concerned, they don't really care. As long as the balance board works, they are happy.

The list of Will balance board games include All Star Cheer Squad,
Babysitting Party, Don King Presents: Prizefighter, EA Sports Active, Equilibrio, and more.

The balance board is far from being a contender as a serious fitness board. It does, however, provides lots of fun for family and friends. Be careful with the movements though. You may end up hitting somebody in the face. This happens when you get too carried away while playing the games. You may also find yourself getting addicted to the games and playing too many hours. This may cause bodily injuries to various parts of your body such as your wrist or knee.

So play with moderation and enjoy your Nintendo Wii balance board.

How to Copy PS3 Games

No doubt if you are reading this article then you are looking for some guidance on how to copy PS3 games. In this article I hopefully can explain the outline and what is involved in successfully making working backups of your Playstation 3 gaming collection. While many think gamers think that it is quite a difficult thing to do, the reality is that it's not and as long as you have a game and a PC, then more than likely you too can make a working copy of your favorite game or games.

Firstly as I mentioned you will need a PC and your PS3 game that you plan to make a copy of. In addition you will need a DVD burner on your PC and then some software or software's that will read and download the files to your PC and then burn them to the appropriate disk or selected media. These are the basics needed if you want to know how to copy PS3 games.

Load your game into the DVD tray burner then start up your selected software that will read the files. There are numerous software options available that will do this, many of them free. The free software options will require that you download more than one type of software where as the paid options tend to be an all in one solution where you can just click one button and it will do the rest.

Whichever option that you choose is entirely up to you. I prefer a paid all in one option as it saves downloading and installing multiple software to my PC. Once your required program is running then let it read the disk so that it can download the files to your PC. This can take quite a bit of time as the file size is large.

Once the files are on your PC then all you need is software to burn it to your selected media so it's simply a case of booting up your chosen software, putting your blank disk into your PC and then let it burn your game to the disk. There, you now know how to copy PS3 games.

For more information on how you can Copy Ps3 Games please look at our How To Copy Ps3 Games site.

Do You Need a Video Game Strategy Guide?

Video game strategy guides are no longer considered self-indulgent in the complex world of today's gaming environment. In fact they're now considered a necessity for anyone who wants to successfully navigate any adventure game. Ideally, most gamers want to win by their own efforts alone. With today's super challenging games, you can get some props for facing such a daunting task. Your friends will be amazed if you don't have to consult a single video game strategy guide while playing your favorite game.

Believe it or not I've been using game cheats and strategy guides since I had the original 8-bit Nintendo. The cheats we used back then were pretty archaic. There were only eight buttons that you could push, so every game cheat was a combination of up, down, left, right, b, a, select, and start. They were pretty easy to remember, and we were always trading them with our friends. Sometimes we would even find one accidentally.

We also had some video game strategy guides that were published by Nintendo or the maker of the game. They were really useful for games like The Legend of Zelda. There would be a long series of riddles that you had to solve and adventures that you had to complete. Having the strategy guide was great when you got lost. These guides didn't emphasize cheats so much as explain how to solve the riddles.

Many of the PC games also required a strategy guides too. I remember that I used to love playing the King's Quest games. Most of these games really took a guide to help you find your way through. A video game strategy guide for an adventure game like that could be a 30, 40, or even 50 page long. They were more like books than "guides" and were already so complex that it was like reading a novel to find your way through the maze.

This trend hasn't changed as video game developers continued towards more and more complex video games with increasingly complex strategy guides. I remember when I bought the Empire Earth strategy guide a number of years ago. It was at least one hundred fifty pages long! I've heard that this is not exceptional for video game strategy guides nowadays either. Some of them are even longer. Still, I guess that's what you need to get through a complex game.

You've probably figured it out by now that unless you're a genius on the level of Einstein you're probably going to have to invest in some video game strategy guides if you want to become successful with your favorite games. I would suggest not using them though until you absolutely have to so as not to take away the challenge that your favorite game offers you. Isn't that one of the reasons why you made your purchase in the first place? Then when you absolutely need to, break out your video game strategy guide.

The Top Ten List - Most Addicting Classic Games

This is a tribute to the top ten most addicting games ever! Some of these games are video games, though most of them are online based games through java and flash based engines. Very few classic games stand out through the test of time, and prove their real addition. In 2002 when flash based games become popular, there were only about 10 games to play, and now in the year 2008 there have been about 20 more addicting classic games added to the vault! Most all of these games are ones you are familiar with already but hey, who knows, maybe I will introduce you into one you haven't heard of or haven't given a fair chance! My number one choice for this list is a game that I have been playing since the 80s, I never get tired of it and it never bores me. It can be played on both a console gaming unit as well as different variations online as well through flash processes!

Tetris - This is one of those games that are easy to play, and yet you have to be somewhat skillful. I have been playing this game and have been addicted for as long as I can remember. Different variations online include; Tetris, Tetris 2,3,4,5 and 6. Still my all time favorite is the classical edition. I believe there is also another game named Tetrix which is a lot like Tetris but it doesn't have the original "pieces" for in game play.

Asteroids - Honestly, I could never get into this game, but for some reason some individuals utterly love it, in fact I have seen more game competitions with this game than any other classic game available! Variations include; Asteroids Duel and Asteroids Revenge. The game is a very old school game which I used to play on the arcades when I was a wee one! Relinquished in 1979 by Atari Inc. It was one of the most popular and influential games of the Golden Age of Arcade Games.

Street Fight & Mortal Combat - These two games have evolved over the last few years but, they were also usable in the Arcadia in the late 80s. Mortal Kombat was the first entry in the famous and highly controversial Mortal Kombat fighting game series by Midway Games, released in arcades in 1992. Street Fighter is a 1991 head-to-head fighting produced by Capcom originally released as a coin-operated arcade game.

Super Mario - This game is everyplace, arcade, console, flash, you can even buy it on software and install it on your desktop! Super Mario is a platform game originated by Nintendo in late 1985 and released for the Nintendo Entertainment System, a continuation to the 1983 game, Mario Bros. In Super Mario Bros., the formal character Mario must help Princess Peach (Princess Toadstool in the US version) of the Mushroom Kingdom from the evil Bowser, king of the Koopas. This is as classical and as addicting as it gets. I could play this for hours on end and I know many other people that would say the same!

Pinball - Who doesn't remember playing these pinball games in the arcade!?! Well, now you can play these types of games through flash based capabilities as well. And most of them are really fun and have really good graphics. Certainly, it's not the same as playing the real thing, but if you have to have a substitute this is as good as any!

Legend Of Zelda - This isn't a flash based game obviously, and I have never seen a perfect reproduction online to play, but it is one of the most classic console games ever! Zelda is a high fantasy action-adventure video game series produced by game graphic designer Shigeru Miyamoto and developed and released by Nintendo. The gameplay consists of an assortment of action, adventure, puzzle solving, role-playing and occasional platforming, stealth and racing elements. The series centers on Link, the main playable character and protagonist. Link is frequently given the job of rescuing Princess Zelda.

Bomberman - This is an arcade-style maze-based video game formulated by Hudson Soft. It was first released in 1983. The game was later on ported to the Famicom and published in Japan on December 20, 1985, arriving for the U.S. Nintendo Entertainment System in 1987. This version would later determine Bomberman's more legendary design, a robotic anime-like character with a pink antenna. In 2004, this version of Bomberman was re-released for the Game Boy Advance, part of the Classic NES Series.

Contra - I have seen flash based applications using this game, and it's as fun as I remember playing it on my Nintendo system. The player controls a commando who battles waves of enemies including humans, machines, mutants and aliens to reach his ultimate goal.

Carrier Air Wing - is a 1990 side scrolling shooting game published for the CPS arcade hardware by Capcom. It is the inspirational continuation to U.N. Squadron, published during the previous year. As with the original, players selected any one of three different jet combatants and battle their way through ten enemy-packed stages.

Nintendo Wii - The Monster Among Consoles

The Nintendo Wii video game console was first spoken of in the year 2004 E3 conference and then later unveiled at the 2005 E3 conference. The Wii is the fifth in the line of video game consoles made by Nintendo and is the direct successor to another great video game console, the Nintendo GameCube. The Wii can play all The Nintendo GameCube games. A distinguishing feature of the Wii is its wireless controller and the 'Nunchuk' which quite remarkably have received prestigious awards more than any other game controller of the age. With its starting price of just a littke over than $250, more and more people get encouraged to buy ths console because of the totally new concept of the build and of course its games' availability and of its new taste in video game experience.

The Nintendo Wii's main features would include its wireless controllers that are known to be Wii Remotes and the vertical console otherwise known as the 'nunchuk' or the magic wand. As the saying goes, "Necessity is the mother of all inventions". So was the very essence of creating the Wii. The developers at Nintendo wanted a fresh out-of-the-box concept which eventually to the prototype of the Wii designed in pattern with the Nintendo DS. With just at three pounds, Wii is considered as the lightest piece in gaming technology today. It can also play games downloaded from the internet.

The catchy name Wii is pronounced as We, meaning that the console is for everybody and can be easily recalled around the world, surpassing language barriers.

Since its first launch on the the year 2007, noticeable leadership in sales have been duly noted. It even garnered and award for the fastest selling game console in Australia. The main objective for its launch is the hope that more and more people of all ages may want to play games.

The said console would be known for its active play type of gaming experience. Infrared sensors built inside each remote controller detect movement and position in 3d space. This innovatice technology allows the gamers to toss, jab, shoot, cast, bowl and many more, allowing realistic play experience. This type of gameplay makes the player get up and get moving, thus separating it from all the other video game consoles available.

What's good news about this new Nintendo Wii is that it's not just found in the homes but also in hospitals and behavioral therapy settings hence making it an extraordinary therapy tool.

Are Videogames Good Or Bad For Your Brain? It Depends Who YOU Are

You may be thinking about innovative ways to maintain your brain in top shape in 2009. Two recent scientific studies published by Dr. Arthur Kramer and colleagues suggest an intriguing possibility: playing strategy videogames. Especially if you are 60-years-old or over.

The two studies are:

1) Basak C, et al "Can training in a real-time strategy video game attenuate cognitive decline in older adults?" Psychol Aging 2008; DOI: 10.1037/a0013494.

2) Boot, W. R., Kramer, A. F., Simons, D. J., Fabiani, M. & Gratton, G. (2008) The effects of video game playing on attention, memory, and executive control. Acta Psychologica, 129, 387-398.

Let's first review the first study, a landmark experiment in that it showed wide and significant cognitive benefits in adults over 60 years old who played a strategy videogame (Rise of Nations) for 23 hours.

A team at the University of Illinois recruited 40 adults over 60 years old, half of whom were asked to play a computer game called Rise of Nations, a role-playing game in which you have to build your own empire: game players have to build cities, feed and employ their people, maintain an adequate military and expand their territory.

Both the experiment and the control groups were assessed before, during and after the video game training on a variety of tests, and the "gamers" became significantly better - and faster - at switching between tasks as compared to the comparison group. Their working memory, as reflected in the tests, was also significantly improved and their reasoning ability was enhanced.

Really remarkable results.

The second study, in contrast, found no comparable cognitive benefits for college students in their early 20s who played the same game for the same number of hours, regardless of whether they play videogames often or don't. How come this contrast?

In order to better understand this, I contacted Dr. Arthur Kramer, one of the scientists involved in both studies, to ask a few questions.

Question: What may, in your view, explain the different effect of the videogame Rise of Nations on non-gamers, contrasting both studies?

Answer: Certainly one of the most notable between our two studies was the age of the study participants - with young adults serving as subjects in the Acta Psychologica paper and older adults serving as subjects in the Psychology & Aging study. We observed training benefits for the older but not for the younger adults. There are several reasons why this might have been the case. First, older adults perform more poorly on the target abilities that we were trying to train - that is executive control processes - than younger adults. So it might be the case that video game training benefits are more readily observed for cognitive processes that are somewhat degraded. Second, while it is quite easy to find older adults who have never played video games (and especially strategy-based games like Rise Of Nations) it is very difficult to find completely nave younger adults (although the younger adults subjects in our study did play video games less than 1 hour per week). So it is conceivable that video game training based gains might be more readily observed the less experience that someone has with video games. These seem to be the most likely reasons for the different effects in the two studies.

Question: What is the main implication from both studies combined/ what do we know today that we didn't know 3 months ago?

Answer: First, I think that our results suggest promise with regard to video game playing and older adults cognition. However, given, to my knowledge, this is the first attempt to improve executive control abilities of older adults via strategy-based video game playing certainly additional studies should be conducted to further explore this relationship, particularly with real-world tasks as transfer tasks. Second, the results of our study with younger adults suggest that caution is in order with regard to assuming that video game training will enhancing, perceptual, attentional and cognitive abilities of young people. Clearly, there are important boundary conditions of such relationships that we don't yet know.

In short, your brain needs Novelty and Challenge at all ages. And a videogame such as Rise of Nations may provide that Novelty and Challenge especially if you are an adult who is not playing videogames already.

Have a great and brainy 2009!

Fix My Xbox Now

Perhaps any Xbox owner's worst nightmare is when there Xbox breaks down. This has happened to me and countless others. So today I am going to go into detail about what I learnt when I found out how to fix my Xbox.

The problem I had when I wanted to fix my Xbox was what is known as "the 3 red light error". This occurs when your Xbox overheats and the internal components of your Xbox begin to get damaged. You Xbox has heat sinks, vents and fans that help cool it down, however, they do not always work properly. A design flaw has caused errors in about 30% of consoles sold.

My research uncovered a number of ways for me to fix my Xbox and I will list some of the most common ones below. Some of them are a quick fix others may take more time.

1. Storage. Often people keep their console somewhere that does not have proper air circulation. Try removing your Xbox from where it is currently located and place it in the open so it can "breath".

2. Dust accumulation. This will often cause errors so you may simply need to blow out the dust from the vents.

3. Repair guide. A friend of mine had the same problem as I did and purchased an Xbox repair guide online. I looked into them and they are legit. Only costs about $25 and comes with step by step instructional videos for every type of problem. I wish I knew about this before I wasted my money.

4. Return it to Microsoft. When neither of the first two helped fix my Xbox I returned it to Microsoft. The frustrating part about this was that it cost me $30 to mail and I had to pay $140 for the repair bill since my 90 day warranty had expired. Plus it took them almost 2 months to send it back.

I understand what you are going through right now, when I had to fix my Xbox I was very frustrated. Hopefully this information has helped you can get your Xbox running smoothly again.

Learning how to fix my Xbox was a very expensive lesson but there are cheaper ways than sending it back to Microsoft.

How to Copy a PS3 Game

If you are reading this article then it's obvious that you are an avid gamer and Playstation 3 owner and as an owner of Playstation 3 games you know how costly and yet fragile they are. This is the main reason why a lot of game console owners want to know how to copy a PS3 game. Luckily due to some bright sparks around the place it's actually not that difficult and in this article I will give you a brief outline of what is involved.

Firstly you are going to need your Playstation 3 game that you are intending to backup. In addition you will need a PC with the appropriate burner and software and lastly the DVD or media that you intend burning the backup to.

The process itself is very simple. Grab your favorite game, put it into your PC drive and then launch the software that you intend to grab the data files of the game disk. Now there are various free software solutions that you can download and install to your PC that will easily read the files and store them to your PC, although as far as I am aware there are no free software solutions that provide an all in one click and copy feature. There however paid software applications that basically let you put your game disk in and then you launch the software; it then does the rest and tells you when to insert the blank disk so that it can burn it for you. While I prefer the paid version you can opt of the free version if you don't mind downloading 3-4 software applications instead.

The longest process is the actual reading of the original game as this can take quite a while depending on your PC processor and the amount of RAM that is has available. Once however the files are successfully on your PC then you will be prompted to insert a blank disk if using an all in one software solution or if you are using the free option you may have to launch your next piece of software.

Basically that is how to copy a PS3 game; it's not too difficult whether you go the free or paid solution.

If you would like to find out more about one click software solutions that show you how to copy a PS3 game then visit the site below.

Playstation 3 "Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution"

One of the finest game strategy games on PC s are produced by Sid Meier. They make one of the most engaging civilization simulation video games around. Popular titles like Railroad Tycoon and Civilization have always continue to deliver the most heralded game play. Thus it no surprise that the company move their popular titles from the PCs genre toward PlayStation 3 platform. And a good job they did, 2K and Firaxis together manage to translate that PC experience successfully towards the Playstation 3 Platform.

In Sid Meier Civilization revolution game play, the idea is to take a civilization in the stone ages and through strategic planning built it up to the Space Age. When you choose which civilization will be your base, the leader of that civilization also have added bonus for your game play. For example if you chose Cleopatra, you might get additional interest on gold reserves, at the medieval age, population growth is increased by two additional percentages. There five difficulties level in this game. Use the first level as a guide. As you get more proficient, try the more difficulty level.

To play this video game, you can choose multiplayer mode using LAN or Single player mode. For those who had played this game under PCs, you will know the game can take several weeks to complete. But under Playstation 3, it doesn't last as long but not in the least as unsatisfying. In the Playstation 3 version. Micro managing of the game has also been removed. The graphics are good, bright, colorful and engaging with animation to the characters. The sound track are satisfying as well. Overall the transition form PCs based to the Next Gen game console like the Playstation 3 is well executed.

The controls of the game are also simple. You don't need to be a computer engineer to understand how they work. Though the game didn't have the depth of the Pcs platform, the game play in the Playstation 3 version is as satisfying and as well as entertaining.

From Games to Computer Games

Back in the day, longer ago than I'd like to admit, we played games that didn't need a keyboard or computer. Games like checkers, chess, and monopoly were played on a board. Electric race cars and Hot Wheels were played on a track. Baseball, football, and basketball were played outside except on occasion when you played in the house and usually broke something. Today, you can play these games in the palm of your hand, on your TV, or on your computer. Computer technology has advanced the playing of games to more than just playing on a Saturday afternoon or a Sunday night and needing someone else to play with you. Now, you can play just about anytime, anywhere, any place, by yourself, or with someone. We have Gameboys, Nintendo, Xbox, and Wii, plus hundreds more.

Games can be bought in stores or on the internet. There are thousands of games that can be downloaded to your computer. You can download some games for free and some you have to pay for. You might think that the free online games are probably not very good but you might be suprised at how high quality and problem free they are. Computer games are here to stay and a lot of people play them for a lot of different reasons. They help to relieve stress (although in my case sometimes cause more stress) they are a lot of fun to play, I believe they help motor skills in children and adults because the more you play the faster and better you get.

Computer games help to get rid of boredom and when you win at these games it makes you feel pretty good.

There are some games that can you use for exercise and training, like the Nintendo Wii and the Wii Fit balance board. You can do a lot of different things with this game. You can exercise, do aerobics, play baseball, golf, ski, and a lot of other fun things all done without ever leaving the house if you don't want to. There are new games being developed for the Wii all the time. If you have never tried computer games, it might just be what need for those times when you're bored, stressed out, or just looking for something fun to do. Try it, You might like it.

Orchard Farming Game Review

There has been hype on the gaming market recently concerning real-time strategy games. Agricultural simulations have been enjoying success and when you combine strategy and simulations there is likely to be success as evident by games such as Youda Farmer and Farm Mania to name a few. Orchard however has not been as successful even though it includes the combination of time management, strategy and simulation. This game has made an out as it requires lots of time and energy to play often with success being very limited in terms of reaping a crop. This makes it more challenging than many.

The introductory storyline of the game is quite simple. A former mail clerk Ivy attains a farm as her inheritance from her Granduncle Fred. This introduction then leads to the need to work at a variety of swatches of rural land that are displayed in bright 2D animation with mini cartoon figures running around labouring on the fields, planting and picking crops. The game is rather simple in its objectives with the aspiration being to hire worker and sell fruits to make a profit in terms of money with limited resource.

Initially work is done single-handed and then when enough funds and wood are accumulated there is an expansion of the holdings. The player is then able to hire workers and construct more building and complete upgrades. The added plus is that you are able to use these additions to work force and other assets to improve operations in each successive scenario and this leads to a slowly progressive move towards the achievement of the outlined assignments.

One plus is that the rivals around do not include the use of additional workers and unlike them you can in this game get workers to aid in collecting wood, picking grapes and erecting housing. All tasks needed for advancement. You are required to stay afloat with fluctuating market prices and many other factors contribute to your success in attracting customers such as advertising. Specific characters can be dedicated to particular tasks and results in improved advancement as missions get harder and take longer to accomplish. This game has ample playtime ensured with your purchase which is another great reason to download or buy it.

For a game belonging to this genre Orchard outlined in a different way and some steps are time consuming. The tutorial alone can take longer than 15 minutes. Tasks are meticulous to complete and take several steps. Many gamers will like the more economic spin this game puts on the farming game genre, but it's not for everyone.

If that sounds like your type of game, definitely give it a try! You can buy or download a trial of Orchard game at FashionistaGame.com, and you can find more reviews of fashion games, time management games and casual games in general there as well. Happy gaming!

Play Homebrew Games on Your Nintendo Wii Today

Unlocking your Wii in order to be able to play games that are homebrew, imported from other geographic regions or even backed up can be a tremendous challenge, mainly because it's dangerous. Typically ,you need to install a special piece of electronic equipment into your Nintendo Wii, sometimes called a "Mod Chip" to be able to use these kinds of games and such.

The bad news here is that opening up your Nintendo Wii console and messing around with its electronics will usually void your warranty. If you're not an expert at this kind of thing, you can wind up destroying your expensive Wii investment.

The good news is that you can unlock your Wii without using a Modchip. You can, for example, use the process described in the Wii Homebrew Installer eBook. This process uses a slight flaw in the Nintendo Wii programming to disable certain safeguards in the system software that usually prevent you from using homebrew applications.

Do a little bit of looking around the Internet and you'll see what I'm talking about. People all over are making these changes to their console. You'll find, with just a little bit of looking, that it can be done.

What you need most of all is a set of instructions that walk you through the process. The best way I've found to do that is with the Wii Homebrew Installer eBook, but there are plenty of other options out there, too. The good thing about using a proven method is that you can usually get some support along the way.

Bob Younce loves his Wii and wouldn't trade it for anything. Visit his blog, where he recounts his experiences with making the Wii the best it can be at The Wii Universe.

Wii Fit With Balance Board and Its Multiple Sensor Concept

Nintendo Wii Fit with Balance Board and its concept were originally announced by the one and only Shigeru Miyamoto at the E3 conference in July, 2007. The Wii Fit was first launched in Japan, in December of 2007. Nintendo corporation got the idea of a Wii Fit Balance Board by observing how the way the Sumo wrestlers did the weigh-ins. These wrestlers are so heavy (surprise! surprise!) that they have to use two scales. The electronic circuits of the two scales compute the cumulative weight of the individual wrestler by analyzing data from the two individual scales. This is the very concept that has been applied in case of the Balance Board.

Wii Fit determines your center of gravity

It is also sensitive to all sorts of actions gamers make. It does this by determining your center of gravity. It uses information such as height, together with the weight, makes an imaginary 3D map of your center of gravity and tracks all your fine (and gross) actions extremely accurately. Isn't that unbelievable?

Wii Fit with Balance Board has multiple sensors

The Wii Fit balance board makes use of multiple sensors (four sensors in all per Wii Fit Balance Board) to achieve its goal. As an example let's say there are two sensors, one on the left side of the Wii Fit w/balance board and a second on the right side. Assume you are in a boxing game (beating up your boss) and you duck to the left to avoid a punch you got on your right chin. What do you think would happen to your weight distribution? It will shift predominantly to your left foot and less to your right foot right? This is correctly identified by the Wii Fit Balance Board sensors and the weight shift information is transformed to a leftwards movement which results in you getting 100 points. This is the very principle of the Wii Fit Isn't the Nintendo Wii Fit neat?

How to Write A Video Game Concept Statement

A game concept statement, or premise, is a short, direct description of the situation of a game. It describes the player's goal, the opposition to that goal, and the means through which that goal will be accomplished. When dealing solely with the narrative portion of the script, the game concept statement reads like a screenplay pitch. Realistically, game play is described because it effects some elements of the storytelling. A short example might read as follows:

"In Trick or Treat the player characters have been trapped in the labyrinth of an ancient haunted house. They must escape by destroying adversarial monsters, avoiding traps, and solving the maze. Trick or Treat is a third person perspective action game."

The goal of this writing is to give the reader a sense for the game. It should answer these basic questions:

  • What is the goal of the game?

  • How is the goal of the game accomplished?

  • What are the challenges to the game?

  • Where does the game take place?

Most people want to add marketing jargon and implementation specifics. This is simply a mistake. Reporting that is it is the best game ever, or that it will be available for the PS10 in 2020 just does not strengthen a concept. To put it bluntly, ths statement is about the concept. Concepts are general, high level notions. The concept of a car, for example, did not begin with the use of carbon fiber at the Indianapolis 500.

Do not include the following elements in a your writing:

  • Game platform (e.g. for the NES because I'm retro-chic)
  • Game rating (e.g. "M" for mature)
  • Game play specifics (e.g. controls)
  • Game programming details (e.g. uses recursive algorithms for speed)
  • Marketing (e.g. "more exciting than a ride on a roller coaster")

There are exceptions to every rule. There are times when it is important to add implementation details. These are exceptionally rare situations, such as a game designed solely to exploit a new type of controller or for use on a non-standard game platform. In these cases, it makes sense to touch upon the distinguishing detail.

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 - PlayStation 3 Review

The notorious Tom Clancys Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 finally makes its way to PlayStation 3 owners. The game is more than an abysmal port from the Xbox 360 (ala FEAR). Tom Clancys Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 on the PlayStation 3 is virtually identical to the Xbox 360 version. In Tom Clancys Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2, players reprise their role as Scott Mitchell (leader of the Ghosts).

The storyline in the game is regarding Mexico and nuclear weapons. The protagonist (Scott Mitchell) and his squad is sent to Mexico to neutralize the terrorist threat. The gameplay ranges from the much maligned escort mission to the more engrossing eradicating your adversaries mission. All of the tasks from the Xbox 360 game like taking cover, and exploiting the Mule drone remains intact in the PlayStation 3 game. The six axis controller gives players the ability to dodge, dive, and execute evasive maneuvers instantaneously.

This is particularly useful when you are trying to shoot, give orders to your teammates, and move simultaneously. The six axis controller was implemented perfectly in Tom Clancys Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2. This is definitely a welcome addition to the somewhat cumbersome controller of the Xbox 360. There are some more multiplayer maps that are available as well. Graphically, the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 adaptations of Tom Clancys Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 are clones. There is no decrease in the frame rate on the PlayStation 3; the game runs at a nice and smooth frame rate throughout the duration of the game. The audio holds up nicely on the PlayStation 3.

Radio chatter will make gamers feel like they are in a war zone. Overall, Tom Clancys Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 is merely a mild improvement on the PlayStation 3 than on the Xbox 360 due to the controls and multiplayer.
