Looking to find a Nintendo Wii for a special Christmas gift? Welcome to the club. Even though they have been selling for over 2 years now, the Wii is still one of the hardest to find products on the market. If you really want to get one you need to outsmart those other shoppers with a plan of attack. With a little research, some patience and an early head start you should have no trouble finding a Wii this holiday season. Here are the 3 ways that you can give yourself the best chance of finding a Wii (or a Wii Fit for that matter).
Check Inventory Online
A couple of websites to check out are Outtastock and Zoolert. These free services are constantly checking the online inventories of all the major retailers and online stores. If a shipment of Wii systems goes up on the site, you (and the others who watch the service) will be the first to know with email alerts. This will save you a lot of time and do the work for you.
Call the Stores Weekly
If you have Best Buy, Circuit City or Target locations nearby you should call them towards the end of each week and ask if they plan on getting any Wii shipments in stock over the weekend. It is a little known secret that these stores like to restock for Sunday mornings when the largest shopping crowd is out and about and they can advertise Wii's in their weekly advertisements. If you find out a store is going to have them, get to the store at least 30 minutes before they open to make sure you are in line.
If All Else Fails, Check eBay
Chances are that you will find a Wii using the above 2 methods in plenty of time. If it gets down to crunch time and you still don't have a system, there will always be Wii units for sale at a premium price on eBay. What's an extra hundred dollars though if it makes your kids happy?
Hopefully the Wii won't be as hard to come by for Christmas 2008 as it has been in the past years, but with patience you'll have a Wii under the Christmas tree this year.
David Hindman got his Wii from Circuit City in June 2008 and gaming has never been the same since.
