Despite all the hype about how durable game and CD discs are, the reality is that they are very fragile. They are prone to scratches and dents. If left in the hot sun they can warp. Many dogs love to chew on plastic and game discs are no exception.
In the "olden" days of 3 and even 5 floppies, when you purchases a game you were able to back up these discs. Either by loading the entire game onto your hard drive and playing from there, or making actual copies of the disk to put away for safety. This is not the case with Wii, PS3, Xbox and other game discs today.
In order to prevent theft or distribution of pirate copies of their games, the developers have encrypted their games so that copy/back-up programs can't read them. This was a great deterrent to people making copies to sell illegally.
This doesn't help the consumer, though, who has legally purchased a copy of a game. They want to protect their investment! Most top notch games can cost upwards of $60 or $70 a pop and that's a lot of money for a small plastic disc!
Will Nintendo replace you damaged game disc for free - or at all? What about Sony or Microsoft? Will they replace your damaged disc for free? Most users who have attempted to contact the manufacturers of the games have met with little or no luck. It has been left up to the consumer to find a way to better protect their valuable game discs and a way to perform back-up of them in case the "unthinkable" where to happen.
Several companies have developed programs that will allow you to make back-up copies of every game that you buy. Whether it be a Wii, Ps3, Xbox or other system, you can safeguard your game investment easily and safely with these programs. Visit here to protect your games.
