Customer Review: Great GPS
This is a great GPS unit and very accurate. I have only used it a couple of times, but am still glad I purchased it, as it will come in handy when traveling out of town.
Customer Review: Great unit...otherwise
I start by stating that the unit i am reviewing is the REFURBISHED version. While it shouldn't have been a big issue, there are significant factors to be addressed The one big reason i nicked the unit points is due to the map being outdated. You may think that you are saving money but as of early 2009, tom tom does not issue free one-time updates with refurb units, contrary to what i thought. An upgrade will run you in excess of 40 bucks, and without it, I kept missing turns and destinations that are centuries old. Second, not so big issue is bluetooth. While not a big deal to many I purposefully chose this unit over some garmins and magellans due to this. It is supposed to sync with your compatible phone and read your messges, in addition to basic call features. I was able to get it to sync only 1 in 20 times. The rest of the time, kept dropping the connection. Very annoying while driving. Lastly,was the volume. I had to have it on max to hear clearly, otherwise, you will have to turn off all the music to be able to disern whats being said. While the issues above were pretty significant, I'd like to think that it was because it was a refurb. When the features worked, they were wonderful. The voice clarity when making that single bluetooth-call was amazing, with no echoing. The text to speech functionality was great,highly recommended feature when shopping for a new unit. I also did not have an issue with the mapping software that some claim is inferior to garmins.
